The baby of an Italian shoe dude who loves watches and two eco-smart entrepreneurs with a crush on the environment, WE fashions wooden timepieces made from mostly scrap-wood and use state-of-the-art Miyota movements, resulting in a unique watch that’s handsome, earth-friendly, and splash-proof.
The first timepiece was designed in Florence, Italy (2010) and with the widespread craving for newstalgia and eco-friendly ethos, WEwood hit the scene as the avant-garde approach to sophisticated sustainability
With a collection encompassing various woods, face styles, and bands, all WeWood watches are made from recycled and reclaimed timber including Indian rosewood, mahogany, coffee tree and teak, with each combination of style and wood offering a unique story. Most of the wood is sourced from offcuts from furniture factories.
“WeWood lets us rediscover nature with a collection of wooden timepieces designed to leave a positive environmental footprint. Completely absent of articifical or toxic material, We Wood watches are as natural and kind as the wrist wears them.”
Teak used by WeWood is more than 10 years old and 100% recycled ensuring that not a single tree is cut down. While Guaiaco wood embodies a dark army green finish, the native South American timber is known for its powerful healing properties. The collection of Tasmanian Blackwood brings a local touch and is the perfect timber for delicate craftwork. Easily worked, stable and long-lasting, Blackwood’s durable seed remains viable for decades, making this delicate timber easy to grow which in turn ensures sustainability.
WeWood hit the scene with an avant-garde approach to sophisticated sustainability by teaming up with tree planting partners, ‘American Forests’ and ‘Trees for the Future’, and locally with ‘Conservation Volunteers’ to plant one tree for every watch sold.
Helping restore Mother Nature, one watch at a time has proved to be a rewarding facet of the WeWood business.
