Thread Harvest – Winner of the Good Design Award in Fashion Design ?

It’s been a season of celebrations here at TH HQ with our recent win at the Good Design Awards. In a glittering awards ceremony at the Sydney Opera House on a Thursday night in May, we humbly received an award from the coveted Good Design Awards for outstanding design and innovation.

This is the first year the Good Design Awards had a category for Fashion Design. This category has three sub-categories and we were the recipients of the E-platform Award for our Impact Badges. It is such an honour to be recognised in this way, and such a milestone for the ethical fashion industry as a whole.

The annual Good Design Awards is Australia’s most prestigious Awards for design and innovation with a proud history dating back to 1958. The Awards celebrate the best new products and services on the market, excellence in architectural design, digital and communication design and reward, as well as emerging areas of design including business model innovation, social impact, and design entrepreneurship.

The Good Design Awards Jury commented: “Thread Harvest created Impact Badges to enable consumers to shop by the values that are most important to them. Empowering consumers in this way is an innovative example of how individual passion touch-points can inspire consumers to change the way they shop.”

From the start, Thread Harvest has been grounded in a desire to tackle social issues through business. We all know the devastating stats. Fashion is one of the primary industries keeping people in modern day slavery. The rate of fashion consumption means men, women, and children are working 80+hour weeks in poorly lit and ventilated factories that don’t meet best practice building standards.

At Thread Harvest we simply couldn’t sit by when we could see it was within our power to act, especially when the change we can make is as simple as a choice of where to shop.

But the reality in all of this is that our desire to create change within the fashion industry would be pointless without the support and encouragement from you, our customers. Lasting change is only possible if we’re all working towards a better world. We see this award is as much your award as it is ours. You inspire us to keep doing what we’re doing.
