Handmade in Australia from a Tencel and Hemp blend.
Please note our men's styles are an over-sized fit.
Tasi Travels was dreamt up on the paradise that is Atauro Island in Timor-Leste. Meaning "ocean" in the local Tetun language, Tasi combines minimalism, practicality, and style. Tasi was designed with minimalism in mind, meaning that you can go away with five or six items and that's all you need for your trip, no matter how long you're away.
Their clothes are designed to be appropriate for both conservative cultures and hot climates, offering coverage as well as relief from the heat with light, breathable materials. Whilst also being one of the most sustainable textiles available, Tencel is incredible for travel. It dries quickly, doesn't wrinkle and is blissfully breathable.
“Endeavouring to create a community of wandererd and to inspire slow, authentic travel, Jessica Abraham founded Tasi in 2017.”
Tasi Travels is Jess's second business, having co-founded and run independent publication Tidal Magazine prior to launching Tasi. Jess has been active in environmental conservation since her early teens, particularly in the space of marine debris and plastic pollution.
Each Tasi piece is handmade by seamstress, Charlie Mackay, and the entire Tasi collection is designed and produced right here in Australia. All of their pieces are handmade to order on the Sunshine Coast.
Whilst also supporting local industry and local businesses, manufacturing in Australia lowers allows Jess to create collections that lower the brand's contribution to fossil fuels and be able to uphold their commitment to no waste.
The Tasi Travels range if primarily made from Tencel, which is part of the Lyocell family and one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics available. Tencel is regenerated from sustainably grown wood cellulose and all of the chemicals used in production are nontoxic. The cellulose is treated in a closed loop system, meaning no waste is produced and the solvents are recycled with a recovery rate of 99.5%. The plant in which Tencel is produced is also run on 100% recovered energy from solid waste. Tencel is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen, making it perfect for travel. Tencel will also completely biodegrade in 6 weeks when composted properly, so any fabric scraps are decomposed naturally.
A core part of the Tasi ethos is that of minimalism; less but better which is mirrored in the timeless styles, shapes, and colours of their range with their strong commitment to constantly learning, growing and evolving so their practices are as environmentally friendly as possible.
