Conscious Step was founded by three twenty-something social entrepreneurs – Hassan Ahmad, a medical doctor and past WHO intern; Adam Long, an industrial designer and marketing strategist; and Prashant Mehta, a finance major and microfinance expert. You’ll find the team working in Sydney, Australia and in New York, USA, although you may also find them tracing their supply chain from the organic co-op cotton fields in India through to their Fair Trade Factory.
Every pair of Conscious Step socks supports a partner organisation to carry out world changing work. Conscious Step chooses partners based on the direct impact that organisation provides in the world. From planting trees to feeding children, they look for the small actions that add up to big impact.
“From planting trees to feeding children, they look for the small actions that add up to big impact”
Each item is embroidered with a symbol that represents the impact you’ve created and the cause you are supporting. They were inspired by the Millennium Development Goals; eight international development goals to combat poverty created by the UN in the year 2000.
Their mission is to take the best quality socks you’ve ever worn, lovingly craft them in working conditions of the highest ethical standards, and match each design in support of a different social cause.
