Importance of World Wetlands Day and how can you contribute?

The theme for World Wetlands Day (WWD) 2019 is “Wetlands and climate change” and aims to highlight the important role played by wetlands as natural solutions in adapting to, and mitigating the impact of climate change.

Why do people celebrate World Wetlands Day?

World Wetlands Day occurs annually on February 2nd, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971.

Established to raise awareness about the value and benefit of the wetlands for humanity and the planet, each year government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and groups of citizens at all levels of the community.

Why should people celebrate World Wetlands Day?

Wetlands provide us with a lot of benefits such as biologically diverse ecosystems that provide habitat for many species, they serve as buffers on the coast against storms and flooding, and naturally filter water by breaking down or transforming harmful pollutants.

Why do we at Thread Harvest celebrate World Wetlands Day?

At Thread Harvest, our focus is to be good stewards over the environment. By participating in World Wetlands Day, we want to help raise public awareness about the value of our natural resources. We do this through our Eco-Friendly Impact Badge which helps you know which brands we stock also care for the environment.
